Nuremberg Toy Fair

The Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair Nürnberg is the most important toy fair in the world. It takes place every year for the first 6 days of February and is reserved exclusively for professionals of the toy industry, press representatives and invited companies. 2700 exhibitors from 60 countries come to present their new products to 79 000 wholesalers and buyers, including 54% international (2011 figures). The fair organizer is the Spielwarenmesse eG, a service provider in the marketing and organization of toy trade fairs with headquarters in Nuremberg .

Every year around one million products, including seventy thousand new products, are presented on the Spielwarenmesse. The show is divided into twelve groups of products:

Each year, the novelties of the Salon are rewarded by the “ToyAward”. The nominated products are distinguished by their degree of innovation, their concept as well as their creativity and the very idea of ​​the game. A jury composed of representatives of the branch determines the winners in 5 categories 1 :

  • Special Award (whose theme changes every year)

Global Toy Conference

On the last day of the Spielwarenmesse, the Global Toy Conference is organized. This International Toy Congress discusses the future of the toy industry and trade around a variety of themes, such as sustainable development, product safety, online marketing and the success of Internet sales.

Spielwarenmesse eG

The Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair is organized by the Spielwarenmesse eG. It was founded on June 11, 1950 under the name “Deutsche Spielwaren-Fachmesse GmbH” and brought together 46 companies. In 1958, it became a limited liability company under the name “Spielwarenmesse GmbH” and then “Spielwarenmesse eingetragene Genossenschaft” in 1973. Its founding bodies are the board of directors, the safety council and the general assembly. In 2010 Spielwarenmesse (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Spielwarenmesse eG, was created, which is responsible for Chinese exhibitors at the Spielwarenmesse Toy Fair in Nuremberg. The Spielwarenmesse eG has representatives around the world who provide the link with the exhibitors and visitors of the Salon of their country.
